77-year-old male:
Patient felt his right hip come out of the joint while lacing his shoes (hip was in flexion, adduction and internal rotation).

Total hip prothesis dislocation

Prosthesis

The femoral component is out of the acetabular one. Dislocation direction cannot be infered from the anteroposterior view alone. The lateral view, however, shows the femoral prosthesis head posterior displacement.

Aetabular component

Acetabular component in place.

Femoral component

Femoral component in place in the femur, but out of its acetabular socket.

Posterior dislocation

We can see that the dislocation is posterior when we know the anatomy of the femur. The bowing of the femur is always anterior, so this dislocation going the opposite side is posterior.

Greater trochanter fracture

Periprosthetic fracture

Linear hypodensity

Fracture line in the greater trochanter.
