12-year-old male:
Postreduction control of a displaced distal radius fracture, Salter-Harris 2 type.

Reduced Salter 2 type fracture

Physeal injury of the distal radius

Postreduction radiographs of a Salter-Harris 2 type fracture of the distal radius. Alignment is anatomical.

Salter 1

Physeal injury of the distal radius

A Salter-Harris 1 type fracture would have involved the growth plate without causing any metaphyseal or epiphyseal fragment.

Salter 3

Physeal injury of the distal radius

A Salter-Harris 3 type fracture line would have gone partly through the physis and across the epiphysis, detaching an epiphyseal fragment with the corresponding part of the physis.

Salter 4

Physeal injury of the distal radius

A Salter-Harris 4 type fracture line would have crossed the physis and involved both the metaphysis and the epiphysis.

Salter 5

Physeal injury of the distal radius

A Salter-Harris 5 type fracture is rather rare. It would have been caused by compression of the physis.
