Comminuted fracture of the right clavicle's middle third with a 2 cm interposed free fragment.

Clavicle shortening assessment

Displacement measurement

Clavicle shortening is ideally assessed by comparing the fractured bone with the other side, if it is normal. In this particular case where the other clavicle is not available for comparison, shortening can be approximated by measuring the overlap between the two parts of the fractured bone (13 mm).
